Five factors that set the figure
- Length and complexity of the system — duct metres, not building area
- Type of contamination: dust cleans faster than hardened grease
- Access hatches: if there are none, they have to be installed
- Working hours: nights and weekends cost more
- Extras: disinfection, filter replacement, camera survey
Why a survey comes first
A quote without a survey is a guess. Real systems routinely hold surprises that drawings do not show: missing service hatches, rerouted runs, equipment fitted inside the duct.
A serious supplier therefore looks first and quotes a fixed price after. If a price arrives immediately over the phone, expect it to change on site.
Where you can save
The most reliable long-term saving is access hatches. Fitted once, they reduce the cost of every future clean, because the system no longer has to be dismantled.
Second is regularity — a system on a schedule cleans faster than one nobody has touched in five years. Third is scope: on large sites it often pays to clean in stages by priority.
What to ask a supplier
- Is the price fixed, or can it change during the work?
- Does it include disinfection and filter replacement?
- Will you get a report with before-and-after photos?
- Does the site have to stop operating?
- What is the recommended date for the next clean?
